EATON Întrerupătoare de circuit

Eaton circuit breakers are important electrical safety devices that automatically halt the flow of electricity when there is an overload or short circuit. They prevent potential fires or damage to equipment. These Eaton enclosed circuit breakers are useful in the manufacturing, construction and... energy production industries, as well as commercial workplaces. Citeste mai mult

Mecanism de lucru

  • Eaton enclosed circuit breaker automatically detects an overcurrent condition (short circuit or excessive load).
  • Inside the circuit breaker, there is an electromagnetic coil that energises as soon as it detects overcurrent.
  • This coil generates a magnetic field proportional to the magnitude of the overcurrent.
  • The energised coil triggers a mechanical tripping mechanism within the circuit breaker.
  • This mechanism causes the breaker's contacts to open.
  • When the contacts open, it interrupts the flow of electricity in both poles of the circuit simultaneously.
  • By opening the contacts, the circuit breaker effectively isolates the faulty or overloaded circuit from the power source.

DESCRIERE

  • Eaton circuit breakers are available in a two-pole configuration to protect two different circuits.
  • They are commonly used in three-phase, four-wire distribution panels.
  • These circuit breakers can protect electrical circuits from current overloads up to 400A.

Standarde și aprobări

How to install Eaton enclosed circuit breakers?

  • Open the packaging and inspect the contents. The uninstalled cover mounting hardware is supplied in a plastic bag with the circuit breaker frame.
  • Begin by removing the already installed cover screws and then remove the cover itself.
  • If the trip unit and any additional accessories are not already installed, proceed to mount them within the circuit breaker frame.
  • Place the cover back onto the circuit breaker frame and secure it by first installing pan-head screws, followed by thread-forming screws.
  • Using a torque wrench, tighten the cover screws to a torque of 18 - 23 lb-inch (2 - 2.6 Nm) to ensure proper fastening.
  • If terminals are not already installed, use a 7/32-inch socket wrench to secure them to the circuit breaker. Torque the terminal screws to 6 - 8 lb-feet (8 - 11 Nm).
  • After mounting the circuit breaker and before connecting conductors, check or retighten the terminal mounting screws if needed.
  • If a warning label is provided with the terminal, place it on the upper portion of the circuit breaker cover.
  • Drill a hole matching the box's mounting holes to install them either on the wall or distribution panel.
  • Install the circuit breaker mounting screws, washers, and nuts. Tighten the screws firmly, but be cautious not to exceed 28 lb-inch (3 Nm) of torque.

What does the current rating in a circuit breaker mean?

circuit breaker's short-time current rating is its ability to withstand the effects of the rated short-time current level over a specified time. It shows that, in situations with high fault current, the breaker can stay closed for a certain amount of time.

What are the different Eaton circuit breaker types?

Eaton circuit breaker catalogue includes miniature circuit breakers and moulded case circuit breakers.

How do I determine the right amperage rating for a circuit breaker?

The amperage rating of a circuit breaker should be based on the load it is protecting. It should be equal to or slightly greater than the expected continuous load, but not so high that it won't trip in case of an overcurrent condition.

What is the difference between a single-pole and a double-pole circuit breaker?

A single-pole circuit breaker is designed to protect a single circuit or one 'hot' wire, while a double-pole circuit breaker protects two circuits simultaneously. The two-pole circuit breaker is commonly used for 240V appliances.
